Puppy dog tails and kitty cat smiles — that's what little photos are made of.
Apex, NC — June 1, 2009 – In September 2008, Pure Expressions Photography was chosen to help Marley’s Cat Tales of Cary, NC create their annual Men of Marley’s Calendar and now, in June 2009, Marley’s has been chosen as the photography studio’s beneficiary of their Dogs Day of Summer pet portrait fundraiser.
Throughout the month of June, the photographers of Pure Expressions dedicate a portion of their time to photographing the family pet. “We go everywhere and see all sort of animals. Dogs are the most common, but cats, horses, birds, ferrets, they are all members of a family and June is their month,” says Aimee Bickers, owner of Pure Expressions Photography, adding “and for two of those days, we open our studio to those cuddly four legged friends.”
According to online sources, more than $2.7 billion dollars were spent on pets and pet related services just three years ago. Some animals like those featured in the Men of Marley’s calendar are in need of a place to rest their weary heads. “Animals are part of our families; if they weren’t, we wouldn’t spend so much on them. For some they are the only children. Working with Pure Expressions on the calendar let us see how dedicated and patient they could be when photographing animals; it takes a special personality to be able to do so,” says Carol de Olloqui, a Marley’s Fund volunteer and coordinator of the Men of Marley’s Calendar. “When Aimee approached us about being the recipient of their annual pet portrait fundraiser, we were thrilled! We knew not only would her staff produce beautiful results, our organization would benefit tremendously! I can’t wait to sign up my two dogs!”
Ten percent of the sales from portrait sessions held in the studio June 19th and 20th will be donated to Marley’s Cat Tales. “We adopted a nearly solid black cat, Miss October in the 2009 calendar, last year after working with the group. We know how dedicated they are and how responsible and loving they are with the animals. They are the perfect choice for this fundraiser,” notes Aimee Bickers.
