If you saw it, would you read it? Submerged by Cheryl Kaye Tardif #ReadOrNot

About the front:
When I first saw this cover, the reds and teals really caught my eye. It seems pretty obvious that this is going to be an action-packed book. As I took a second look though, I realized just how tied in the two colors are … the red blending into the green because well .. the red is clearly submerging into the green – into the water … aka being submerged. This is seriously cool looking! I also have to admit the hand on the inside of the car is creeeepy and the water over the title is AWESOME. For someone looking for fast-paced action, this would easily be a pick-me-up-and-read-my-blurb kinda book. The water is almost 3D lie and the red lights burning on the car say ‘this is happening right now’. I’m even holding my breath thinking ‘what if I were in that car?’ Yikes!

Now let’s look at what the back says:

Two strangers submerged in guilt, brought together by fate…

After a tragic car accident claims the lives of his wife, Jane, and son, Ryan, Marcus Taylor is immersed in grief. But his family isn’t the only thing he has lost. An addiction to painkillers has taken away his career as a paramedic. Working as a 911 operator is now the closest he gets to redemption—until he gets a call from a woman trapped in a car.

Rebecca Kingston yearns for a quiet weekend getaway, so she can think about her impending divorce from her abusive husband. When a mysterious truck runs her off the road, she is pinned behind the steering wheel, unable to help her two children in the back seat. Her only lifeline is a cell phone with a quickly depleting battery and a stranger’s calm voice on the other end telling her everything will be all right.

Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?

Two strangers submerged in guilt, brought together by fate…

Ooh, so is this a romance? Now that I would never have picked up by cover alone. Different audience then?

Wanh! 🙁 I’m already crying and now I think that hand is a kid and that’s going to make me cry more!

But his family isn’t the only thing he has lost. An addiction to painkillers has taken away his career as a paramedic. Working as a 911 operator is now the closest he gets to redemption—until he gets a call from a woman trapped in a car.

Oh, so is this car hers? I feel for this guy. I can’t imagine losing my kids or my husband. Nooo. Never. I’m now emotionally invested in this book and all through some simple words on the virtual back of the cover.

Oh, no. Two lost souls. Now I see where the tagline came in.

When a mysterious truck runs her off the road, she is pinned behind the steering wheel, unable to help her two children in the back seat. Her only lifeline is a cell phone with a quickly depleting battery and a stranger’s calm voice on the other end telling her everything will be all right.

And then what? So now I really need to know … is this a drama and action book or a romance? I can’t tell, but I do have to say, this description fits the cover to a T. Bravo!

Will I read it?
I’m very very interested!!
