Are all nail techs experts on eyebrows? ‘Cause they all ask if I want mine waxed. Um ….
No?
Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not a trendy sort of girl. I’m not the type to pluck my eyebrows out until I have paint them back in.
That would be …
weird.
But EVERY time … and I mean EVERY TIME I go to a nail salon for a manicure or pedicure … I get asked.
I mean, we’re there, not chatting because I can’t understand them anyway … and out of the blue comes:
“You want eyebrow shape?”
Usually, because I’m constantly startled by the question and the fact the person opposite me has spoken to me, it takes a few seconds for me to 1) figure out what they asked and 2) that they didn’t just ask me about sheep and 3) to respond with my usual ‘no, thank you.’
To which they often cock their heads as if my answer is just plain wrong.
Yes, really! (I cannot make this stuff up, people!)
I’ve even had a hair dresser ask me once. Needless to say I did not ever go back to her. 🙂
I do NOT have a unibrow, so what’s up with this trend to make eyebrows smaller? They are there for a reason, right? To keep sweat from going straight from forehead to eyeballs when … say … running or walking or exercising in general.
They separate eye sockets from forehead.
They add color to an otherwise bland colored face (in my case, I’m either white or black which, oddly enough, is the same color as all my animals. I’m sensing a pattern here).
But you see, I could not care less about the trends of plucking, waxing, shaving and coloring back in eyebrows.
They have a purpose, dammit, and I’m going to let mine be.
How about you? Are you constantly asked if you’d like your brows shaped? If you were, what shape would you choose? Normal? Mickey Mouse? I mean, really … they’re just eyebrows.
No one has ever asked me. I worked with two older women who both waxed their entire face and had the drawn in brows….yuck! Mine have gotten lighter over the years so all I do is pluck a few strays from underneath and a couple of wiry top ones that are starting to remind me of my dad’s (not a good thing).
I’ve seen ‘that look’ but I just can’t imagine doing that on me! LOL
I’m sure they’d bug me too but my eyebrows are on the fair side so their “wild and untamed” nature is less noticeable. My sister, however, notices and has been known to bug me about plucking a few rogues. I like full brows, personally, wish the Brooke Shields look would come back.
Bravo us! No drawn in eyebrows for we three! 😉
I have absolutely NEVER plucked my eyebrows. Nuh-uh! No siree! Keep it!
I did once decide to give waxing my legs a go. I remember yanking off the first strip, shouting something along the lines of ‘Holy Mother [Bleeeeeeep], and then running into the bathroom to complete the job with a razor. 😉
And I have never put wax to legs for the expected reaction as above! Ha!
I don’t get manicures regularly, but on the occasion when I have, they asked me and I of course told them no. I don’t usually pluck my eyebrows, but a friend of mine does it for me every few months. When she sees me and goes, “Oh my, we need to do something about those”. I think it’s funny. She is the only one I let do it though because she doesn’t do a lot and she doesn’t really hurt me. I tried having them waxed once, but because I have psoriasis, I broke out really bad. I will NEVER do that again. Lol.
I don’t go often either (1-2x a YEAR) which is why this is altogether even more weird! Gotta love good friends, but I won’t even do that!
