::blog chain:: Hint Fiction

On December 14, 2010 by Aimee

What exactly IS ‘hint fiction’? Well … it was coined by Robert Swartwood.

It’s a story of 25 words or less that suggests a larger, more complex story.

This month, for the December Absolute Write Blog Chain, the idea was to write a piece of hint fiction … yes … 25 words or less that tells an entire story AND hints at a bigger one.

Easy?

Not on your life.

Though the person before me … Aheila was great as will be the one after me Regan Leigh. I encourage you to visit them as well as others in the chain.

Now for my piece de resistance (ha!)

An entire story in 25 words or less.

Title: The warning

Dawn conceals what the darkness of night reveals.
He smirked, ambled through morning’s light. “Whatever.”
Blind corners do, too. I didn’t tell him that.

And there you go. 24 words (the title doesn’t count, but it is a key aspect of the story).

So what did ya think?? Did I manage? 🙂

Now, go check out what others have written!
