It’s All in the Details

It’s all in the detail … the little details; how the glasses sparkle when the sunlight hits them at just the right angle or the exhuberant smile on the face of the flower girl as she tries oh so desperately to drop red rose petals, one by one, carefully down the center of the aisle. The details, the traditions, the family, the friends; in wedding photography they’ve merged into the true story of your wedding day — the start to finish story. Those stories are exactly the goal of the 2009 Bride’s Choice Winner and Apex-based studio Pure Expressions Photography.

“It is from a merging of photographic creativity, traditional and photojournalistic, that we have built our style,” explains Aimee Bickers, the studio’s owner. Trained in tradition with a flare for the photojournalistic, the teams of Pure Expressions take your requests and turn them into reality. Brandy, a September 2007 Pure Expressions bride said, “[they have] an artistic flair for awesome photography and at times knew what we wanted before we did.”

From it’s inception in 2005, Pure Expressions Photography has been hailed as a “bride’s choice” studio. “There is enough to worry about on your wedding day and the last thing you want to be thinking about is whether or not the pictures are going to come out as you envisioned them,” says Kim, a December 2007 Pure Expressions bride. “We defer to our brides. We are not there to direct the wedding, but to capture the day at its finest. We are flies on the wall, waiting for the moment to happen, or if a bride prefers, making them happen through very subtle encouragement,” says Aimee.

Brides today often want more than just wedding day coverage. Engagement, bridal or, for the more adventurous, boudoir photographs are often very important line items in budgets. They also want the same mix of style in their portraiture — a “bride’s choice” style. With a commercial studio conveniently located in Apex, the studio is able to create all these types of images in the style a bride chooses. “My fiance and I had our engagement pictures taken with Pure Expressions and they turned out amazing. We were a little nervous about having these pictures taken because we wanted them to be very natural and not so posed. We ended up with the most awesome pictures ever,” exclaimed Elizabeth, a November 2008 bride of Pure Expressions Photography.

At the end of the day, it’s the photos that make the biggest statement. “If we, as a studio, have done our job, you’ll never forget your wedding day,” says Aimee. And to confirm exactly that mission, June, a June 2007 Pure Expressions Photography bride, “Its almost been a year since my wedding and I can look at those picture and feel like it was yesterday.”
